Comprehensive Midwifery Care

Prenatal Reimagined

Thoughtful, unhurried care that puts you at the center.

Prenatal care at Kindred Origins is about more than monitoring your pregnancy. It's an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with your midwives, deepen your understanding of pregnancy, and feel informed, supported, and confident as you prepare for birth.

Our appointments are intentionally longer, typically 45–60 minutes, allowing time for comprehensive clinical assessments, personalized education, thoughtful conversations, and attention to your physical, emotional, and nutritional well-being.

Each prenatal visit includes:

  • Maternal vital signs and assessment of overall well-being

  • Fundal height measurements and abdominal palpation to assess fetal growth and position

  • Assessment of fetal heart tones

  • Discussion of nutritional, physical, and emotional needs

  • Education tailored to your stage of pregnancy

  • Time to explore questions, concerns, preferences, and upcoming milestones

Your Prenatal Visit Schedule:

We follow a consistent schedule of care while remaining attentive to your individual needs.

  • Through 28 weeks: In-office visits approximately every four weeks

  • 28–36 weeks: In-office visits approximately every two weeks

  • 36–37 weeks: An in-home Birth Preparation Visit to review your birth space, preparations, and plans

  • 37 weeks until birth: Weekly in-office visits

Birth Experience & Beyond

Attentive support. Skilled clinical care. Honoring your birth experience.

Our role is to create an environment where you feel supported, respected, and actively involved in your care while we thoughtfully monitor the well-being of both you and your baby.

Whether your birth unfolds quietly and peacefully or calls for additional guidance and clinical support, our commitment remains the same: compassionate, evidence-informed care that prioritizes safety, autonomy, and clear communication.

Your labor and birth care includes:

  • 24/7 On-Call Availability: Your midwifery team is available around the clock for urgent needs beginning at 37 weeks of pregnancy through the birth of your baby.

  • Personalized Labor & Birth Support: Attentive, hands-on care in your home beginning in active labor, generally around 5–6 cm dilation, with ongoing assessment, clinical monitoring, and individualized support throughout labor and birth.

  • Immediate Postpartum & Newborn Care: Comprehensive assessments of both mother and baby following birth, including vital signs, maternal recovery and bleeding assessments, a newborn examination, evaluation of overall well-being, and initial breastfeeding support.

  • Emergency Preparedness & Transfer Coordination: Should complications arise or a higher level of medical care become necessary, your midwifery team will assess the situation, initiate appropriate care within our scope, and facilitate a timely transfer while communicating with the receiving medical team.

Our goal is not to promise a particular birth experience, but to provide the skilled, respectful, and responsive care you deserve, however your birth unfolds.

Postpartum Reimagined

Because the mother matters just as much as the baby.

The weeks following birth are a time of healing, adjustment, and incredible transformation. While so much attention naturally shifts to your new baby, we believe mothers deserve that same level of care and support. Our commitment continues through the first six weeks, providing comprehensive postpartum and newborn care that prioritizes your physical recovery, emotional well-being, feeding journey, and your baby's healthy transition into the world.

Our 45–60 minute appointments allow time for thorough clinical assessments, individualized guidance, and the questions that inevitably arise as you navigate life with your newborn.

Your postpartum and newborn visits include:

  • Maternal Recovery: Vital signs, assessment of uterine involution and postpartum bleeding, physical healing, and overall recovery.

  • Newborn Wellness: Monitoring your baby's weight, feeding patterns, milk intake, elimination, and overall health.

  • Feeding Support: Breastfeeding assessments and guidance.

  • Emotional & Nutritional Well-Being: Thoughtful conversations about emotional adjustment, mental health, rest, nutrition, and physical needs.

Your Postpartum Visit Schedule

  • 24–36 hours after birth: In-home mother and baby visit

  • 3–7 days after birth: In-home mother and baby visit

  • 2 weeks postpartum: In-office visit

  • 4 weeks postpartum: In-office visit

  • 6 weeks postpartum: In-office visit
